To ensure that each child has a smooth transition into school, we offer an induction programme for Reception children and their parents:

• Parents are invited to a Welcome to School Evening. This is an opportunity for the Headteacher and staff to welcome parents to the school, to share information and to visit the classroom.
• Children are invited to attend the ‘taster sessions' during the summer term.
• Parents and childre are invited to Song and Rhyme sessions.
• Home visits are offered by our Reception teachers in early September prior to a child starting school for the first time.

It is expected that before being admitted to school, children will be able to use the toilet independently, usually be dry during the day, have some independence in dressing and feeding themselves and be able to communicate their needs.
