Modeshift Stars
At Harrison School we have recently achieved our Modeshift Stars Bronze and Silver Awards. Modeshift STARS is the national schools awards scheme that has recognised us demonstrating an excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel for our families. The awards encourage schools across the country to increase levels of sustainable and active travel in order to improve the health and well-being of our children.
As a school we work closely with Hampshire County Council to provide safer routes for our families to use, along with promoting ways of staying safe when traveling to and from school.
This has included taking part regularly in Walk to School Weeks, Be Bright Be Seen, Bike Ability, Scooter Training and gaining extra funding.
Our upper key stage children can apply to become the school’s Junior Road Safety Officers. They carry out regular training alongside various schools in Hampshire and create assemblies, safety videos and collect data/ information about the school to increase awareness of road safety amongst our families.
We are proud of how our children implement and promote Road Safety along with working closely with our families, volunteers, local community and Hampshire County Council to achieve this.
